Dome Square, Riga in July 2008

We travelled to Latvia in July to perform with other international choirs in the Foreign Guest Group Concert in Dome Square in Riga as part of the 23rd Latvian Song and Dance Festival
Our trip was part-funded by Culture Ireland to whom we are very grateful.

Latvia is famous throughout the world for its tradition of singing, and is often referred to as “The Land that Sings”. In July 2008, more than 35,000 singers and dancers participated in the Festival to an audience of almost 300,000. The song festival has been held every five years for the last 135 years and draws on participants from Latvians from every town and village in Latvia and abroad.
